Bowl question....

Hi guys. I saw this huge fish bowl at goodwill on my lunch today for $3.00 I would say it was close to a gallon if not maybe a little more. I know 2.5 gallons are better but would this be ok as long as water changes are done? Also is there a heater that will work for a bowl this size? It stays warm in my office but I would rather have some type of heater to make sure he or she does not get cold.

bowls have a lot of drawbacks actually- which is why we don't recommend them- the still water stops oxygen exchange- the fish can jump out- and there isn't really any easy way to keep it warm. but a lot of people keep their betta in bowls. I suppose a lot of it has to do with how long you want to keep an individual fish since those things i mentioned tend to shorten their lifespan. I noticed a big change in how long they would live based on the size and type of bowl/tank i had for them.

Ok thank you I want them to live as long and happy as possiable so no bowls for me. I am glad I did not get it.
