Immediate Community Advice Needed

Hello!

I just purchased four platys and two cory cats for my community tank. I also pulled the existing Cory cat from my Berta's tank to make three cory cats. All of the fish are now getting acclimated.

I know that the betta should be added last. My question is, when? Should I let the other fish have the tank for twenty four hours, twenty minutes, and hour? I have no idea.

That's a personal preference really IMO. I don't remove my Bettas but others do. If I did remove mine I'd probably wait an hour or so. I take it you're not going to QT your new fish to ensure they're healthy? You'll want to keep an eye on you water parameters for a week or so because adding that many at once can cause a mini cycle.

Good luck with it. I love getting new fish & its so fun to watch them explore when they're released into their new tank.

I'm watching them now and my mom is making me feel bad for not being in the kitchen keeping her company. But new fishes! D:

Since it's a new tank (right?) you should do water changes more often for the first week or so, just to keep the ammonia low.

About your betta, I don't think 20 minutes or 1 hour will get your other fish used to the tank, so maybe 24 hours would be good.

I've had the tank set up for about a week, so yes, it's pretty new :)

I think I've decided to wait about a week to add my betta- I want to be sure the new fish don't have anything they could give to him

Cories are schooling fish and you should have at least five, though six is better. Quarantine is always a good idea, so the longer the better!
