Two things...

1. For my 5 gallon tank, I bought a Tetra Whisper meant for 1-3 gallons. I figured since bettas don't make a lot of waste, it would be better since it wouldn't be as strong. Anyone have any experience with these filters? Yea or nay?

2. My 2 gallon tank that has my boy in it is unfiltered. How often should I change the water, and how much? I'm thinking 50% twice a week?

The 1-3 gallon filter will be just fine!!!

twice a week 50% sounds good to me! I change my two gallon hospital tank 100% twice a week, but I'm a clean freak. :)

Hmm...hope it works for me too. I still have the reciept though.

My 5 gal is empty atm. I moved the heater over to the 2 gal for my VT. And the heater does a better job in this tank...it's somewhere between 75-78 degrees.

From my experience with uncycled tanks, you NEED to do 100% changes or the waste will build up. Being a super clean freak I'd do them twice a week on a 2 gal, but testing your water for ammonia with a good liquid test kit (I recommend API) is really the only way to be sure that your maintenance is up to par.

I have had the filter you are talking about for over a month now and have been very pleased with it.
