Too much flaring, divided tank

Hello guys, i have two bettas in a divided 5 gallon tank. One of the bettas flares at my other betta like 24/7. I hear it's very stressful for them to flare too much. My other betta doesn't flare back, he doesn't really care. I put a huge plant next to the divider, but it doesn't work. How can i make my betta stop flaring so much? He always hangs out near the divider.

The divider is made of black plastic mesh screen, and report binders. Any suggestions?

More plants & decor so that the other fish can't be seen as easily?

Its fine. In fact I think it is good exercise for them. They get over it after a while in more cases. I had a male that would flare at me every time he saw me. He would flare at his reflection and was fine.

It's good exercise but I'd worry if mine did it a lot as well, so perhaps you could distract him? New decorations to explore, sit by the tank more often... Sometimes mine even watches movies.... I kid you not.

How long have they been in the divided tank together?

Do you mean the one Betta *never* stops flaring? Or he flares quite often? I have one that flares if they're both at the divider at the same time. Is that what you mean he does? Or does he flare whether the other one is there or not?

He only does it when he sees the other Betta through the divider. And he sits around near the divider all the time, i tried covering it with plants but it doesn't work.

Edit: They only been divided for 5-6 hours now.

Then I agree with Snowflake. Nothing to worry about. He'll get bored with it and quit. Plus, it is good exercise for him.

You can put a ping pong ball in with him a couple of times a day.
