Gray patch?

I got my first Betta a few weeks ago, and noticed he has a gray patch behind his gills and on his tail. Is this normal?

On his belly and tips of his fins you mean?

How big is your tank?
How often and how much do you clean it?
Do you add tap water conditioner?
Anything else you add?
Is it heated?

How big is your tank? 1 gallon. I'm unable to afford a bigger one at the moment.
How often and how much do you clean it? I do a 50% water change about every two days, and a 100% water change every week.
Do you add tap water conditioner? Yes I add tap, but I use water conditioner.
Is it heated? Yes I have a heater for him. his tank stays around 79-80
Anything else you add? He has been making a lot of bubbles.. There is a big patch of bubbles in his tank.

Okay... What do you feed him?
When did you get him?
Has he pooped?
If he has pooped, what does it look like...? Long white and stringy, or color of his food?

To be honest because he is a marble, it may be him just changing colors.

From the picture he has a typical "crowntail belly" Which, I have become used to with 98% of my crowntails I have owned and bred. They tend to have a smaller belly than other tail types (asides Doubletails). Be warned with the freeze dried bloodworms, they tend to cause constipation and bloat... May lead to SBD (swim bladder disorder). Best to leave it as a weekly or twice weekly treat in moderation.

Only thing I would change, is maybe change 50% every 2 days to closer to 100% per 2 days, which may make a difference. If it is in case a problem with ammonia, smaller bowls do better with a higher water change. Cup him, and re-acclimate him to the tank after you've cleaned and refilled.

Thank you so much! I will defiantly only give him the bloodwroms once as a treat every few weeks. Do you know anything thing that would be a good treat for him besides the bloodworms? Also I will be sure to do more water changes. Thank you again for your help!

Personally, frozen foods are amazing and can be used as a secondary staple. Frozen brine shrimp, frozen myosis (large and you need a sliver of a block for one fish), and frozen bloodworms are awesome.

I think there is a brand to avoid.. Many people bave had issues with it. San Francisco Bay is the brand to use either sparingly or not at all... I haven't had issues, but learning what a few people's fish have gone through sue to that brand... I stopped using it.
