I've been running red lights for many years. I've never been in an accident, so I must be doing something right...

I use salt in ALL my tanks. Not much, but it does seem to help. Especially with those recovering from fin rot.

Works for me.

What's the best brand of salt to purchase? I presume the ratios are included on the back of the product?

at my store they have 2 brands, topfin and a pond salt. both are exactly the same. the pond salt is a little cheaper here. ive used both and absolutely no problems with either. there are ratios on the packages. i typically use 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons. everyone has their own preferences.

I honestly think that the composition of your water affects what works for each person individually. Obviously, some people have good luck with salt, while for others it is a detriment, and others still find it to have no effect. So maybe Christina's water is lacking in salt and that's why she has had success with it, and Lupin's water has higher levels of salt, so adding salt may cause problems. This is just my guess, but it honesly seems to me that over the course of people's years of fishkeeping everyone develops their own routine based on their successes and failures, and the end result is a custom program based on their specific water composition.
