tips for someone with a new tank

i've been reading about aquariums in general and it seems I need to "cycle" the tank.

I've searched the net but cannot find anything comprehensive for those that just got the tank.

can you please help?

thank you very much :)

ps. I'm thinking of getting a 4ft x 1.5ft x 1.5ft tank. will be putting other fishes of course. is this too big?

A 4 foot tank is an awesome size to start off with. Just make sure it is well planted (real or fake) to make the betta feel at home.

A cycle isn't 100% necessary, but it's recommended. Especially if you want to add tank mates later on.
