How to maintain my tank?

Alright, so I guess I jumped the gun a bit with the tank thing. The betta fish have been in a tank now for over a week. I thought I just needed to do 25% water changes every other week and I would be great.

However, it looks like I'm getting algae, and I have no idea how to get rid of it.

There seems to be an abundance of information online on how to maintain a fresh water aquarium. However, there is just SO MUCH information, I feel like I am getting buried.

Can someone please direct me to a good website/webpage that might help me out explaining what I am supposed to do (something like "How to Clean Your Aquarium; for Dummies" might work!)

Thanks dramaqueen! I'll have to get something to clean the algae off with. There's a lot of it in the diy divider. How should I get that off?

Also, they don't say anything in this about cleaning the gravel/rocks/etc. Don't those need to be cleaned periodically?

You can use a gravel vac. How big is the tank and is it cycled?

Is the tank near a window? Sunlight can create algae problems fairly quickly.

It is a 6 gallon tank. Cycled? What is that?

No, the tank is on the opposite wall from the window...and the blinds are usually down
