Having trouble swimming? Heavy tail or something else?

So I went to the pet store to get some kanaplex for a sick betta I am trying to take care of..ended p buying a new 10 gallon and a new betta fish, he was just so beautiful he had the biggest tail of all of them their, but now after watching him swim around I'm wondering if he is having trouble?

He wiggles a lot when he swims and moves his fins very fast at his sides even when moving a short distance slowly, he is resting a lot on the plants closer to the surface and just sitting there. Doesn't look unhappy or anything just looks like he tires himself out quickly. He hangs a little with his head up, does he have a swim bladder problem or what?

The bigger the tail the more tired the male will get. He will be alright. He "wiggles" is normal. Just make sure you have lots of plants that have big leaves for him to rest on in the 10 gallon tank.

He is in a 1 gallon at the moment until I can cycle the tank but for sure, also need to get silk plants I'm afraid the plastic will catch his fins :(

he is gorgeous. The shimmering is alright. I would get a silk plant that has big leaves for him to rest on.

Think of him like a pregnant woman, after a while of walking they need to rest because they are tired from carrying the extra weight. The same goes for your male.

Yeah his tail is double the size of any of my other VT. I got him a silk plant yesterday, he loves it and it doesn't catch. :3
