Exclamation Seashells from the seashore?

I recently went on vacation to Massachusetts, northern point area and brought back three clam shells. Wondering if I can put them in my tank with my betta? Do I need to specially clean them since they are from the ocean? Do they need to be quarantined at all? If so, how do I do that? Or can I just run then under warm water? Should I smooth the edges of them also? Excited to hear responses! Thanks!

I wouldn't. They are going to make your water harder. They will slowly dissolve. Bettas like water on the soft side. They do adapt but I wouldn't add something that will make the water harder.

Thank you. That does make sense and I didn't really realize the shells would dissolve. Thank you.
