My new betta Aragorn

I bought Aragorn home this sat. and noticed on sunday when I came home he was going around in circles and biting his tail. Why is he doing this?

Biting his tale? Sounds very odd.... Internal parasites? Don't take it from me though, I've never known a betta to do such a thing.

Unusual that you caught him doing it, but a lot of heavier-finned bettas bite their tails. I have a HMDT who has just started biting his tail. Nobody really knows any concrete reason bettas bite. We assume it is out of boredom, out of agitation, or because their tails are too heavy for them and impede movement. Sometimes changing environments works, sometimes it doesn't. Many times, it is something we just have to deal with. Make sure his water is clean and warm and his fins will grow back if he lets them.
