First Betta I need someones help

OK I just brought my first Betta yesterday after 2 weeks of research!
I have a 1.5 gallon tank. I have AmQuel Plus,and Nova Aqua Water conditioner.
I realized that som of my water conditioner was leaking so I'm getting very low in the Nova Qua,so IS it ok if I just use the AMqel plus which removes Nitrate,Ammonia,Chloramines,and Chlorine?
Also can I add the Amquel to my tank while my fish is inside the tank.
When do I clean my tank,and how I looked it up,and some say 20%,but I want to be clear.
Feel Free to add addtional care infromation with my first Betta fish.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I think you can just use the Amquel until you can get some mor NovAqua. I've never used Amquel or NovAqua so I'm not 100% sure. Also, a 1,5 gallon needs to be changed 100% twice a week.

I've used AmQuel Plus twice because I ran out of NovAqua and couldn't afford to buy more, my fish seemed to be fine with it. I think it's safe to pour in with the fish, though I've never tried it.

When you do the 100% change a week, I'd also remove everything in the tank once a week and scrub them down. You'll notice the plants and decoration will have a slimey feel to them.

Is it really necessary to use two water conditioners though? I mean, if it is water conditioner - they all have the same purpose...to dechlorinate the water. I have never heard of either of these brands of water conditioners...so I am assuming it should be fine.

AmQuel and NovAqua come together in a package. NovAqua is a water conditioner, while AmQuel is mainly used to remove Nitrates,Nitrites, and Ammonia. But it reomves Chlorines and Chloramines as well.
