I would suggest putting a breathable cover on the top of that bowl until you get the bigger tank.

Is he actually a she?

after a few days, I'm begining to think that my betta is actually a she. Rarely he/she flares up, and he/she looks nothing like the picture that I was supposed to get. but thats ok, I still enjoy him/her. I've gotten a bigger tank, its a BiOrb.. I wish I didn't get it though.. its very overpriced but I couldn't find any other round 4 gallon tank. I got more things todat for the tank, and I guess he/she likes it... he/she keeps swimming around and around the tank. I'm adding new pictures, maybe someone can help me tell if its a male or female? Sorry if the pictures are so big, I'm still trying to find out how to make them smaller on this site.

I don't see any eggspot, so I'm thinking it's a male. And I think it is the fish in your picture, as it's amazing what a little tinkering to a picture can do. A little bit of photoshop, the right moment of flash, and it could very easily be the same fish. Besides, it's got the nip in the tail and the blue spot. I'd say it's almost definitely the same fish.

You can look to see if it's a female by look underneath him, to see if you see a white dot. If you do, it might be a female, though some males have been known to have it as well. If it DOESN'T have it, though, it's a male.

Looks like a male to me! the males have longer Ventral fins. Females don't. I've noticed that...

Thanks everyone! I got his shark at walmart... he loves it. LOL
I'm thinking that I might be able to see if he is a she or actually a he when he gets bigger. Ugh, tongue twister he was only 3 months old when I got him?
