Male's first time coitus

My boy dwarf tried to do first time coitus. It was horrible, he did the nest in 2 days and coitus took about 10 hours. He squizeed empty water times and times for hours instead girl. He sometimes even didnt put eggs to nest, girl did the job most of the time. Left nest most of the time after girl is removed.

Now only 20 fry are at free swim stage, maybe less.

Can it be because of it's his first time? What you people suggest me to do for him? How can I help him to learn the job :)

Nothing you can do other than just give him more experience :) It happens.. not easy to position the female just right and wrap her!

On the bright side 20 fry is a good manageable number to deal with. Best of luck.

If he had a short stubby body you should have not bred him, that is a bad flaw and it is passed on to the fry.
