Help please

My female blue betta has vertical lines on her body and a small vent between her fins but she still isn't plump. Should I release her with the male a few times until she is? what should I do?

If she is flirting with the male {Flaring back } and has bars she is ready, not all females get plump, release her.

Ok thank you. She is flaring back so I'll just wait for the male to finish the nest and i'll release her.

Yeah, there is no "done", if wait too long it's more like "got tired of waiting" :) If he is trying to lead her to the nest, doing drive by flarings and trying to get her to follow then you know he is ready for her :)

i released her and he did chase after her for a while but she still won't go under the nest even after hours of chasing her. What should I do? He isn't hurting her thank god :)

Leave them be.. the female has to be comfortable enough to allow him near her, yet be subdued enough to breed (hence the male chasing her). It can take anywhere from hours to a week+ for a pair to breed, especially if they are virgins. Just keep an eye on them and if after 5 days of nothing I would remove, recondition and try again. How did you condition them to breed?
