Cories need to be in groups of four or more and since that is to much bioload for a five gallon need a larger tank. You can't really do any other fish. Nerite snails rarely lay eggs and their eggs won't hatch in freshwater, if that helps.

Nerites don't breed in freshwater, so maybe try those! Cory catfish need to be kept in groups of 5 or more. They'll also need a ten gallon.

Edit: Oops! totally didn't realize there was another page, sorry Matt XD

My dad is still kind of skeptical. Im thinking about getting a nitrate snail or 2. What do they eat? What is the benifit towards the tank?

They eat algae wafers, and also any algae in the tank. I love my little nerite, he cleans up really well!

If you get multiple nerites of the same type they will lay lots of white eggs over the hardscape. The horned ones seem to be better with this though.

Yup they sure do. So far I've been successful with avoiding eggs by just getting one of each kind but I bought them from a store tank where there weren't too many of the same kind.

Not any invisible algae types I know of. Never really had success feeding them wafers either. Usually fish and pest snails got to them first. In my experience they really do best on real algae. Even just a little bit will do.
