Hello, I am new to the forum
I just wanted to say that forum has been incredibly helpful, thank you. And it's really fun to see pictures of other people's bettas and hear stories.
I bought my first betta fish, Calcifer, in July. In these few, short months I've become mildly obsessed. I had no idea how intriguing betta fish were before! I started out with a small home aquaponics kit, 3 gallons (but really 2 gallons after you leave space for air and substrate). I realized I was much more interested in taking care of my fish than the plants, and got rid of the planting part all together so he would have more room to swim. He seems happy, and I do a few water changes a week.
My friend is now giving me a 20 gallon long fishtank, and I plan to turn it into a divided tank. Maybe 3-4 sections. I am super excited for it.
I went to the pet store today, just planning to buy some supplies, but came back with another betta fish this morning. I think he's gorgeous and seemed a bit more spry than the other fish surrounding him. I don't have my divided tank set up yet, but it seemed a shame not to take him home. I think living in a small temporary tank for now is better than living in the tiny cup with a ton of food debris. I haven't decided on a name yet, but I'll figure it will come to me after a little while :)
Calcifer is a delta tail, and the second one is a twin tail halfmoon betta
