Sorority Question

I want to start a sorority in my heavily planted 10 gallon that is currently divided. I have one female at the moment, she is fully grown and very mellow. However, the other females I would get would be much smaller than her. My question is: would there be a way to integrate her into a sorority with the younger fish, or should I wait until they are grown?

Waiting until thye are all similar in size would ease the transition for all of them, I currently have a giant, a plaket, an almost adult crowntail, and a sub-adult Cambodian in the tank together. Mine do okay, but I watched for a while to make sure no one was fighting.

I disagree with TakingthePlunge. You do not need to wait for them to be similarly sized with your typical betta girls. Perhaps this is the case with different subspecies, but not with splendens.
They can all be introduced together. Meaning remove the full grown girl, rearrange the tank and release all of them together. Cup any bullies and let them float in the tank for a day and that should fix any issues.
I have a girl that is almost double the size of all the others and yet she is very docile and is near the bottom of the hierarchy.

Thanks both of you for the feedback. I will be sure to keep it in mind as I plan my sorority.

I've had girls from a half inch long up to two and a half inches long...and everyone was fine together. One of the little ones is very fierce and actually bullies the biggest girl, but the othes pretty much just kept to themselves when they were smaller. The older girls didn't seem to pay her any mind, and she just did her own thing until she grew up a little bit.

It's not so much about size as it is about personality. Just like with horses, the smallest ponies are usually the ones absolutely running herd on the big guys. ;)
