plzz help!!shadow is sick! :(

i have had shadow for about 4 years now and he hasa been sick twice, once with an unkown disease and once with pop eye but both times he got better....
but now he is worrying me.. he has been sick for about a month maybe longer but now he has this swelling white bubble coming from his side and he just lays at the bottom of his tank or against the edges of it on his side, the white bubble popped or something a few days ago but he's still not better.....
im going to the pet store tommarow to look for medicine and maybe they will know something about it there
