Question new girl doesn't like her food

My new betta doesn't seem to like her food. Her mouth is so tiny that I am feeding her flakes for right now. She'll grab them and then spit them out. Why is she doing that?
What am I supposed to feed her if she won't eat the flakes?
The first female betta I had couldn't eat pellets for a couple months because her mouth was so small. My new girl is the same size.

How long have you had her? Sometimes it can take up to a week or so for them to get used to the food you feed them. Keep giving her the flakes and net out what she doesn't eat. After awhile she'll realize that is what she has to eat.
Also, maybe you could try cutting/crushing up pellets to see if she likes those.

I got her today. I'll try to keep feeding her that. And I'll try crushing up pellets right now. Although I am starting to run out of pellets because my dog decided he liked the smell of fish food when I got this packet and tore into it and ate half of it....

I just tried crushing the pellets. She ate, spit it out then chased after it but didn't catch it.

Yup, that's normal. I had one that didn't eat for a week. Once they're all adjusted and comfortable, they'll start eating. Just keep feeding her the crushed pellets (I give my females 2 a day) and if she doesn't eat them, just scoop them back out. I prefer pellets over flakes.

I fed one of my picky girls Hikari micro pellets. They were easier for her to eat.

I don't know if my petco has those. They barely had anything yesterday, but I will try to check tonight.

I tried smashing up the pellets and feeding it to her. She grabbed it then spit it out.
