OMG, you guys really are into Bettas. I got my little "guy" as a gift. I know nothing about caring for fish, but I quickly fell in love with him. He is an orange, veil, male (I gather from the above info.) I'm thinking about getting a blue Betta, but friends tell me that the blue Bettas die quickly.

I don't see why the color would affect how fast they died... Your friends might not be keeping their blue bettas in good conditions, therefore they think they die faster. If they get their bettas from the petstore (like Petsmart) then they are already sorta old.

I'm sure mine came from a pet store. What do you mean by kind of old! My betta seems healthy and happy. He certainly acknowledges me whenever I pass by his bowl and I think he is a beauty.

I don't think color has anything to do with how fast they die.
