Red face Just got a second female betta fish

I just got a second female betta fish and the first one doesn't seem to like it. I've gotten many different opinions on how many betta fish should be living together. So, I thought I'd ask you all if female's are supposed to live in a community consisting of three or if two is okay.

If you would like to keep females together, your going to need a very well planted(silk or live)10 gallon or more tank with plenty of hiding spots and a minimum of four females. With two, one will bully the other to death and with three two will gang up on the weakest one and kill it, you need at least four to spread up the aggression though 5-6 is better. I suggest you separate your girls ASAP and wait until you can get at least two more(if you have the room)or just keep them in their own tanks....you you can divide your tank, if its 5+ gallons.

I agree with what DragonFish said. I have my two females together in a divided tank and my little one jumped onto the side of my big female and my big female almost took all of Chanel's fins off. I'm sure if I didn't see it sooner Candi would've killed her.

Females are aggressive, too and will beat the daylights out of each other. Some will beat up males!

Yep!!! I had one female get over the divider, and he male didn't even touch her! She shredded him though! Luckily his fins are growing fast. Poor Pax!
