My 10 Gallon Tank?!!

First off this is my old 10 gallon tank I got in 2012. Right now it's in Florida in my grandmother's house. I currently live in Maryland but I plan to move back to Florida sometime and when I do, I plan to take my 10 gallon tank wherever I go.
I want to fill this tank with something other than Bettas. I love Bettas but I want something else in it.

I was thinking 10 Male Guppies would this work? I have more plants and hiding places I had bought. I would of course re clean the whole tank and everything in it then fill it up. Get one feeder fish and cycle it once again. But for right now I want to know what types of fish I can add in it aside from Female Bettas. NO Bettas in this tank please.

I think 10 guppies would be a little overstocked, but it could work if established very well. You could cycle, get 5, and then let it establish. Once it is, add a few more.

Guppies poop like MAD so adding 10 right at once might have a little ammonia spike, even if cycled, so add a few by few. Never have less than 3, though, because they nip like mad.

Ok great so I thought about getting first 5 then add 5 perfect! Are there any other types of fish I could add instead of just 5 guppies. Like 5 Guppies to start the cycle then add something else that would look lively and colorful?!!

I'm asking so I can get ideas on what I can do in a 10 gallon. This won;t be for a long while. I rather know what I can and cannot do now before I do something I'll regret later on.

Your tank would be super overstocked with that many fish.

Use http://www.aqadvisor.com/ to help get an idea of what quantity you can stock. It's not 100% accurate but it is a very good guideline.

Killifish are lively, colorful and can handle slightly cooler water like Gups.

Thanks guys for all your help. I looked into it and i decided to go with two kinds of tetras.
6 Neon Tetras and 6 Bleeding Heart Tetras.

You'll like that. And your Betta background will pay off, too.
