dumb divider question

My roommate has a bigger tank for her betta that came with a divider. We've put my betta in on the other side and her betta constantly flares at mine. Is it healthy to put a see-thru divider in if the betta constantly flares? Would that cause stress?

They'll flare at each other for awhile, then ignore each other. Make sure that the divider is secure, though.

its good exercise from all i have read as long as they have a place to hide out when they feel like they have had enough to that they know teh other fish can not invade its territory.,.

Yeah, they'll eventually calm down. I put plants up against my dividers so they don't have a full view of each other and they can hide in the plant.

I think they are smart enough to figure out that they can't get to each other. I have mine side by side and they don't even look at each other most of the time.

Let me be the one to caution against this. My boys were fine with the see through divider at first.. only flaring occasionally. Then thats all they would do is patrol the divider constantly flaring. Eventually they both got so stressed out that they bit their tails to shreds (meaning weeks of treatment for me).

What I would do is take the clear divider out and put in a piece of plastic mesh... they can still see a little but not enough to really stress them out.
