They were probably using them for experiments.Unfortunately, schools are doing stuff like that these days. The only thing we did in my day was dissect a frog.

Yes, my friend's college's Bio Dept. does experiments with their Bettas. My Betta Speedbump and my lizard (my Bearded Dragon- he has a longer more different story though that won't get into right now) I got from them is healthy (and my friend's Betta who came from there is thriving as well) and so were all the other fish and animals kept there. My friend told me the experiments they did were as harmful-free they could make for the animals and I believe her because I had visited her school and Bio Dept. and saw all the animals (from the Bettas to Chameleons) were kept in clean and good conditions and were well cared for. So no worries with this college before anyone worries about the animals :)

What my friend's college does is with the animals they don't need at the end of the term they use them for, the students are welcome to give them a home (only certain ones though, like the Bettas and rats for example). This is why I am able to get them for free.

I got fishing wire to put together my dividers and found Black Report Binders at Office Depot (unfortunately, the edges on the tabs are curved instead of flat, but they were black so i grabbed them up, LOL.) So, we will see how those dividers turn out! :P

I'm glad the experiments were harm free. That's good to hear.
