Unhappy RIP Krome :( 9/18/2013

My poor half moon betta fish Krome passed away today:( For some reason the heater shot the temperature all the way up to 100 degrees!! poor krome fried:/ I wish I would of gotten home sooner to save him:(

Just be aware of heaters everyone!

I'm so sorry about Krome. I had a heater once that just decided to stop heating right for some reason. The temperature dropped suddenly and then I either did something that fixed it or it went back by itself, I don't quite remember.

I lost my guy to what I believe was a heater malfunction this week too.

Sorry for yours, too.
I'm not sure what happened to mine, I came home from work Friday to find that the cheap little preset heater was no longer working. I replaced it with a better adjustable one ASAP but the little guy was very obviously sick Saturday and Sunday and was dead Monday morning. Best I can figure is the heater fried him before it stopped working. I'll never buy one of those again!

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that. :( I'm having heater issues too, but in the opposite direction - I came home and my tank was a chilly 70 degrees, despite being set at 81. I got things back to 80ish, but the calibration on my heater seems to be WAY off and the ambient temp outside fluctuating like crazy with this bipolar fall weather isn't helping.

Well now I know never to use a heater... So sorry for your loss... my first betta died when my mom stuck some plant in the tank. I told her it was poisonous but she didn't listen to me for whatever reason. The next day I came home and he was dead. I forgive my mom but she really should have listened :/
