I've been keeping moss balls in my windows some have sat for weeks. I rinse them in tap water and them put them in declorinated water in a bowl by the window. The one's I treated this way didn't seem to have any "guests" once in the aquarium.

If you put the moss in a container first, you will be able to observe and see I there are any snails in it. You can bait them out with food. There may be a few MTS in what I sent you - you can squeeze the moss in your fingers and feel them if they are there. It's guaranteed that there are no other kinds of snails.
