Plant questions?

I fully don't understand what are:
Root Tabs
Fertilization
Flourish Tabs?
How do plants get co2 without dosing it?
Lighting that is not a T3, what can i replace light bulbs with to help my plants?
And any other advice you have for me!
Also i have a Micro Sword that 3 stems grow so high then others die, does that mean they are fighting for co2 or growth?
They don't have general stickys about plants so i have no idea what i got myself into!
Thank you!!!!!

It probably would have been better if this thread was posted under planted tanks, but that is okay.
Root tabs and flourish tabs are buried into aquarium substrate and they release nutrients for live plants.
Fertilizers (often in liquid form, like Flourish comprehensive) provide extra nutrients in the water column to be soaked up by plants.
Aquariums naturally contain certain amounts of CO2 just like out atmosphere.
As for lighting something like this http://www.petco.com/product/111971/...cent-Bulb.aspx
(in the 6500K range) is what you would want to purchase to grow plants properly.
There could be various reasons the swords are dying off, but I am guessing it is a lack of lighting.

Thank you! But they are out in the open, but they did better in my gravel tank than my sand right now
I don't have a plug for that lighting so is this a good bulb? http://www.petco.com/product/111943/...%20Bulb-111943

Even if they are in the open that does not mean that they are getting the lighting that they need. In addition, swords are heavy root feeder and will definitely need some root tabs if your substrate is just gravel or sand.

You'll get more quicker attention if you post you question in the plant section of the forum:
