Hopefully the new decor helps. Otherwise something small enough to still heat would be fine(like a 2.5gal or a 1,5gal).
You could also try dividing the 10gallon.

He is doing a lot better now. He isn't darting or pacing around. He is now calmly exploring his home and making friends with the shrimp.

I agree with everyone whose advice is to "jungle" it up. Especially important is "topcover," floating plants for them to hide and sleep in near the surface.....and to provide protection from predators.





Well, they don't know there aren't any.
