Thoughts?

So, I have a habit of often changing Earl's aquarium, like the way things are placed, the things in it, every time I clean it. Most of the time at least.

My dad has recently brought up the fact that this could be bad for him mentally. Like he could get used to his surroundings and then get 'homesick' when I change them....is this true? I don't wanna make him upset!

It should be fine, most people do that to some degree to ward off boredom.

Depends on the fish, but most of them like variety. It's what their fore-fishers enjoyed in the wild

I change my boys tanks around now & then too to give them something new to explore, even if it is just to change the position of their plants and hideouts. They are all very easy going and have always been happy with something new.Your boy should be fine too,you will know if he is easy going about it or if he is sulking. If it's the latter I would leave it alone for him,as they are all different.

I guess changing things around too much could stress your fish out, but if you're only doing it when you change the water and not changing everything in the tank he should be fine... If he's acting fine right now then he'll probably be okay with it in the future. I agree with the posters above me. A lot of fish do like variety and many people change things around to keep there fish from tailbiting
