Some advise the bait and remove method. I say that's someone who hasn't tried to get rid of an infestation, as you have now seen. Some vegs work better than others. You can order assassins on line , if needed.

I had that same kind of white fuzzy stuff that showed up on a piece of driftwood I put in, and disappeared when I took it out. I've heard several suggestions as to what it could be - cellulose from plants, harmless bacteria, or some type of fungus - and some people say their snails will actually eat it.
