Fish Orgy (can I say that? lol)

Came home and as is my daily routine fed all of my tanks. Except this time after feeding my 20g long my 12 harlequin rasboras began spawning! It's been really fun watching them, but unfortunately my german blue rams (that are also preparing to spawn) gobbled up all of the eggs rather quickly lol.

Also, just a curiosity. My rams, which are young only about 4 months old appear to be guarding and fanning a nest, but it has no eggs in it. Is this very common? I know that with young rams they don't always get it right the first time.
