Halfmoon? Corwntail? Or a cross between both?

At the pet store where I bought my Betta he was labelled as a HM, and I just figured that his fins were ripped up, until a friend pointed out that he could be a crowntail or even a cross. You guys are the experts! What do you think?

To me his fins look messed up. To me a halfsun (a crowntail halfmoon mix) would have much more evenly distributed points. Like this guy:

See how his points are mostly the same length and distribution.

Hi and welcome, no I think his fins are torn could be from bad water conditions in the shop, although his fins do look unusual, I think he might be a big ear as well, its difficult to say with his fins being so ragged. He is pretty though, and will be stunning when healed up. You might want to have a look in the diseases and treatments section. I think most people on here would recommend adding aquarium salt to the tank to clear him up.

I was not saying no to your suggestion, I forgot about halfsuns, lol, I think we were typing at the same time, and it looks like I was saying no to your suggestion, I wasn't. lol :)

So under proper conditions his tail should grow back in a bit? And I've had him for about two months and from what I've read online he is a happy, healthy betta. But yes I think I will ask about him in the other forum section! I want to do everything I can for him. Thank you!
