getting a snail for my betta?

i have a filtered 5 gallon and i was wondering if i could possibly get a snail so he can have a tankmate. i'm concerned that there might not be enough room, so i'll attach a picture of the tank and i want you guys to tell me what your opinion is. if it is big enough, what kind of snail should i get? which kinds aren't asexual? another thing is feeding, what exactly do you feed a snail o.O?

Nerite or an apple snail - nerites cant breed in fresh water and apple snails will need a mate. Nerites wont get too big - maybe a little bigger then a dime but apple snails will get much bigger. I got mine from a seller on Aquabid in January and they were this big ---> O, now they are about 2-3 inches big.
I feed the apple snails cucumber but I have never seen the nerite touch it. For him, I drop in 1/2 an algae waffer every few days.

Just keep in mind snails poop alot

Nerites don't seem to have a personality. Mysteries are funny and like to climb up the tallest thing in the tank and jump off and guide themselves down. Strongly suggest a Mystery but in a 5g you need live plants ,as they poo a lot.
Nerites really only want to eat algae and eat other things only when the algae runs short. You may not have enough algae. My Mysteries are spoiled to algae wafers and won't touch vegs.
I have some Zorro nerites and they prefer to stay out of the tank. I have picked them up off of the floor several times.
