Hello, I'm preparing to get my first Betta fish and I was wondering if I could get some advice. I've been lurking on this forum as a guest for a while, but I've recently gotten most of what I think I need for my tank and started the cycling process. So i just want to make sure I'm doing this right.
I rinsed the plants and gravel, conditioned 15 gallons of tap-water, and set up the tank. I've put in about 1 1/2 oz of starting bacteria in the tank, which the guy at the aquarium store suggested for a quick cycling time (I've been waiting a long time for this fish and don't want to wait any longer than I have to). I also put a couple tbsp's of aquarium salt in the water, one moss ball, and mixed it all up.
Is that a good way to cycle the tank? Is 15 gallons too big for one betta? (I might end up dividing it later). I have a PH test kit, but nothing else because the aquarium store does free water testing.
Haha wow that's a lot of stuff! Any tidbit of advice would be great, really. Anyway, it's nice to finally become a part of this forum. This seems like a nice corner of the internet.
P.S. What should I name him?
