High pH level

I did a water change on monday, and today I bought 6 new neon tetras to go in my 10 gallon tank. (It also has Tippi, my betta, in it)

this was my first time doing a pH test, and I wanted to try it out. So I put the aquarium water in the bottle along with 3 drops of the solution, and put the lid on. I started shaking it and I tested the color, and it is a blue color. The color chart only went up to 7.6 but it looked darker than it so I assume the pH level is around 7.8 or 8.

should I do a water change and use the pH down, or wait until later. I'm still new at this. I'm afraid to do a water change and use the pH down because I just put new fish in a few hours ago and I don't want to stress them out too much. I also did a water change 4 days ago

so what should be my course of action

PS: The pH test kit is sort of old, since I don't even remember ever having it. I just found it with the rest of the fish supplies that my dad has. I don't have any other test kits.

Bettas are pretty sturdy when it comes to pH levels - my water's pH straight out of the tap is about 8.2-8.4 and my 6 guys are just fine. I'm sure your's will be fine too :)
