Smile lighting

Hi! I was wondering do betta fish need any special lighting? If so why? And what kind?

Smile nope

no, I believe most fish do not need a specific lighting. though, i wouldn't put a very bright light. as for color temperature, you can choose any temperature to suit the theme of your tank. :)

well, some species such as corydoras don't like very bright light. You can keep your betta in bright light, but they prefer dim lighting. what tank size do you have?

As WW points out, fish don't need special light. But, if you want to grow plants, a 6500K (Kelvin---color temperature) 2W/gal CFL bulb will get you started. For more, see the planted tank section and the "similar threads" down below..
