Would 2 heaters work?

I recently found that the hydor heater for 2-5 gal tanks doesn't work well and can't get into the best temperature zone and I went out and got the larger one and that is only hitting about 73ish. Would two of them be a good idea or should I get something else? Also where should the thermometer be in relation to the heater as right now its at the opposite end of the tank, but should it be closer?

I would personally get a Visitherm heater. They are GREAT! I'd get a 25 Watt for your tank.
