Ghost Shrimp and My Tank

Hi, just a quick question before I am off to Petsmart.
I want my betta (Schwimmy) to have a tank mate, and I have read up on how ghost shrimp get along with your all's bettas. I was wondering if I could put one in with my betta. He is in a 2.5 gallon tank, and I am about to get him a heater for it tonight if they have the one I am looking for. I also do NOT have a filter in it. I was wondering if I can have a ghost shrimp in it. And I was also wondering if I could out anything else in with Schwimmy with out having a filter. I do also do a 100% water change every week if not more often. I was also wondering if I put betta fix in the tank (bec my betta is still on it for another few days) if that'll hurt the little ghost shrimp? Hope someone can help with my questions. :)) Thanks in advance. :))

OH and if I forgot to add. Is there any other fish I could add in with Schwimmy w/o getting a larger tank or heater?

I wouldn't put anything else in a 2.5 gallon with a betta. I have never kept ghost shrimp though. Your betta will be better off alone in a tank that size.

2.5 gallons is just enough for a single betta and nothing else, you'd need a 5 gallon or more to have tank mates ;)
You should also be doing 100% water changes in an unfiltered, uncycled 2.5 gallon 2-3 times per week. :)
