best way to clean grimy acrylic tank w/out scratching?
I just bought a used Eclipse off of CL that had been stored in a basement for a year with 1/4 of the water still in it. How do I get the grimyness off of it without scratching? I've let it soak in vinegar already but it really needs to be scrubbed.
Damp papertowels won't scratch it either. I have an acrylic cleaning pad that works as long as there is water over the area you are wanting to clean. You can't use it on the acrylic if there is no water over the area... a combo of those work for mine.
But water and bleach do the job. Just rinse really, really well!
2parts water 1 part vinegar and a soft sponge (available at the petstore). A microfiber cloth or paper towel will work as well. I would try to stay away from bleach.
If you wash it with the vinegar two or three times it will be as good as new.
