Eclipse 12 for $10 - and it works!!!!!!

I found someone selling an Eclipse 12 on craigslist for $50 - it came with silk plants, gravel, heater, marineland stand and tank. I was going to get it and when i asked him to to check the light and filter to make sure it worked, he emailed me back and said that he checked and it didn't and he was going to bring it to the dump. I told him no!! i'd buy it all for $10 and at the very least have a nice stand and heater and some good silk plants. Picked it up today, cleaned everything, plugged it all in - TA DA!! It works fine!! The light button sticks a little and you have to play with it a bit to get it on/off, but, hey, that's ok!! and i can always replace that. Filter motor works fine and pumps water! woohoo!!!!!!! what a deal!!

any advice on how to clean the acrylic - it's really dirty. i know i need to use vinegar, but what can I use that won't scratch?

and i can throw the bio wheel out, right? i should get a new one of those?

too bad I can't use the tank though... my hubby doesn't want any more tanks in the house (we have 3 right now - 20 gal, 6.6 gal, and 2.5 gal) Grrr!!! I can try to convince him....

My Bio-Wheel says not to throw it out unless it's broken, but if there's a bunch of dust and junk on it, I'd probably just spring for a new one.

Well, if you can't use it, you can always ship it down to PA... LOL
