just out of curiosity how do you tell the difference between a male and female betta?
Also. if zippy has three different colors... but he looks he has a vail tale, would he be a vail tale? or something else? becuase I've noticed that there is a category for fish with the three different colors?

Female bettas are smaller than males and have much less finage. The also have a telltale white spot near their anal fins.

I don't know where your getting your info from but color has nothing to do with tail type. Your betta is a veil tail if it has an asymetrical form and long flowing tail that slopes downward.
