Question Does Gage have fin-rot?????

Gage's tail looks a little torn & the edges appear to be black in places & white where its torn & around the edge of his tail, there's no fluff or fuzz there, just splits & different colour.

What u think?

It looks like you've got a tail bitter IMO. Have you ever seen him chasing his fins like a dog chases it's tail?

Nah Ive never seen Gage do that....my other male does it, so I do know what u mean. But no can't say I have.
Do u think it's worth salting him, or leave it & see if it gets any worse?

Sometimes they do it when we aren't around. They can be VERY sneaky about it.lol You should still give him salt baths and put a little salt in the tank. I had a tail bitter that would let his tail grow long and than bite it again and do the same thing over and over again. It was SO frustrating.lol

ghost's tail started like that weeks ago and i treated finrot and it totally stopped (healing now) so yeah, id say fin rot. i didnt see him biting it (and i spied on him without him knowing and he didnt bite)

took out filter(chemical filter), treated finrot till it stopped spreading, changed water and put filter back in with salt instead and he seems perfect. try that id say.

Here's a link on tail bitters and fin rot. Sometimes it's difficult to tell but since he's missing big chunks of his tail, it'd say he's biting it. Fin rot can be very progressive and nasty also. Tail bitter: http://www.healthybetta.com/a-bettas...it-tail-biting (you can see in the picture given that the betta took a big chunk out of his tail)
Fin rot: http://www.healthybetta.com/fish-fin-tail-rot
Good luck and I hope this helps! :)
