Crown Tail Betta

My crown tail betta is really small compared to my daughter's veil tail.. I think perhaps hes a bit younger than hers is? if i had to estimate i'd say hes a little over an inch not including his tail... her veil tail is twice his size how big do the crown tail bettas get? and how fast do they grow?

Bettas usually get a couple inches long not including the fins. The crowntail is probably younger. I have a HM who is still smaller than my other males and I've had him for 4 months. It probably depends on how big the parents are too. I wouldn't worry, even if he is a little bit smaller, it shouldn't hurt him unless he's VERY small, than it could be a birth defect. Could you take a picture of both of them so we can see the size difference?

Probably just small. genetics play a huge part in size.

BFC: You HM might be small, if he carries the DBT gene, that makes them small.

My crown is on the smaller side.. but I'm thinking he is much younger than my other boys.. they are all at least a year if not two years old now.. and fish is going on 4!

Wow! That's great 1fish2fish! My oldest will be 2 years in June, but he's probably a year older than that, I've had him for 2 years.

Yeah.. I'm guessing Fish was about 6 months or older when I bought him (he had been there a LONG time).. and I've had him for about 4 years (maybe 3 1/2).. I can't actually remember when I got him.. it was either at the end of my junior year or the beginning of my senior year.

I'm hoping he lives forever :).. the oldest I've heard was like 7 years.. if he lives that long that will be REALLY good for a petshop betta.

I will be very sad when he does pass.. he's not my first Betta but I've obviously had him the longest. I'm proud that I've kept him going for 4 years.. most petstore bettas or even finely bred bettas live this long.

1fish2fish, I wish they COULD live forever then we wouldn't have to feel so sad when we lose them.

Me too. But in a way its good I guess.. it gives us a chance to have many fish with their different personalities.
