what kind of snails??

I'm out of state at the moment and going shopping with my sisters- and cousin-in-law and I'm making them stop at Petco :) Since I can't get snails in Maine, I am thinking of getting some here. Any recommendations?? I want something that actually helps the tank, not just poops :) And something that doesn't breed.

any suggestions?? i need them ASAP because we're leaving soon! thank you!!

Mystery snails or nerite snails are your best bet. As long as you do weekly water changes mystery snails don't poop that much.

Do mystery snails clean the tank (i.e. algae)?

Yeah. But you need to feed them other things too. Like veggies and fruits.

What DH said. I don't have much algae in my tanks because they aren't planted yet so I mainly feed them algae wafers. But if I ever have any leftover veggies I give them to the snails.
