Hi, I am new at this forum stuff but I have a question. My male crowntail died today.. :(
but, his mate seems to be swollen with a clutch of eggs; with out a bubble nest I am unsure how it will go down. I was thinking of getting a new male and having him make one then changing tanks so she can have some where to nest. I dont want to risk her health or a new male. some one please help me with a nugget of information.
Your female is full of eggs? That's normal. They DO NOT NEED TO BREED when they are full of eggs. The will either re absorb them or release them and eat them. It's just like males do not need to breed when they build a nest.
Do you know what breeding bettas entails? Don't get another male unless you want one and DON'T house them together. Nothing will happen to your female.. like DH said she will either drop and eat or reabsorb them.
Yeah I adopted them from some one in the same tank, when I separated them the male stopped eating so I put them back together and he was happier. They have been together for as long as I had them. I think I will just stick to her. Yeah I have never had a female before. only males. so I am learning as i go, and don't plan on breeding them.
