Odd algae behavior

I have a 5.5 that is one month old with non carbon filter and one Betta and about 7 beginner plants. Brown algae has been a huge issue coating the plants and glass but i didnt over do it on cleaning since there is only one fish and tank needs to develope BB. I do wipe off the plants. I got frustrated and just left the tank alone for two weeks without wiping plants or water changes Now i have noticed that the brown algae is " rolling" up into little balls and now can be removed easily by just swishing my hand around in the water. It has disapeared off of the walls. I have never seen brown algae do this in my other tanks. Water parameters are good. Also i have noticed those very small white worms that probably hijacked into tank from a plant. There are not too many of them and i have gotten them before in the others. They die off after a while because i am very carefull not to over feed. The betta gets pellet food and eats it all before it sinks.
Thanks for any info i receive on this algae issue

Sounds like diatoms and they are pretty normal in new tanks. it will clear up with time.
