Talking Our new betta Terence

Here is our boy Terence. He is named after Tinkerbell's friend in the Tinkerbell movie. :) We got him two days ago.

Welcome to the forum! Your betta is very pretty! Great pictures. Just a side note, it looks like he's in a really small bowl. They need at least 2Gs of water so they can stretch their long fins.

By the way the bowl really isn't that small at all. When he is close up to the side it makes him apear huge because it kind of magnifies him. He can stretch his fins out fine in it. It is a temp bowl though. :)

Yes, the large vase type of bowl with a plant on top.

Oh no! PLEASE don't do this.. Betta Vases are animal cruetly! The betta can NOT live like that.

He needs a 2+gallon bowl at least, with lots of hiding places (silk plants and caves), and a heater. Thats the most basic set up.

Also, a lot of people think that smaller bowls/tanks are easier to take care of but that's the opposite. A 2G bowl will have to be cleaned twice a week 100% (taking plants out and cleaning them, and sifting through the rocks on the bottom), but I guess you could get away with one water change a week and a 50% if you couldn't do two 100% cleanings. Where as a 5G and up you could cycle the tank and only have to do partial changes a week instead of 100%.

Thanks for the info.
