Opinions on this Pair

This will be my first time trying to breed. I want to see if I can actually do it before I invest in a good pair of fish.Attachment 247154

Are you able to attach a picture at all?

I've also read time and time again to start off with the nicest pair you can afford, as the only cost difference in raising a nice spawn and an average spawn is the cost of the parents! Additionally, it might be easier to get rid of nicer fish than more typical ones. But to each their own, and heck, your pair might even be stunning -_^

If you are able to get them as a url, will work a treat. Otherwise you may need to downsize/play around with the format of a picture you want to attach?

My fish and I are about equally computer literate though, so someone else might have more suggestions haha

Thanks I'll try and remember that next time. I played with the file size but it said it was over the limit, but together they equal 90 kb which should be post able.

You don't need to run out and buy expensive fish but you can do better than that male crowntail even at the pet store. If you are going the petstore route look for solid colored/similarly colored fish. Look for smooth toplines. Your male has a pretty rough topline. Look at pictures and get an idea in your mind what good fins look like. Take your water quality into consideration if you want crowntails. Hard water will curl their rays. Really look at each fish. Make a list of things it must be before you buy it. IME bad toplines are passed on pretty easily.
