YAY! New tank for a sorority! set up help?

YES! Today is my birthday and i will be buying a BRAND SPANKING NEW tank for a sorority!!! I am hoping to get a tank no less than 10 gallons and have sand as my substrate, terracotta pots (up to 3) as caves, and plenty of fake plants (not sharp and i say fake because i get lazy and dont trim real ones :P lol ) As for the filter i want to find a filter that doesn't make a large current (i dont want my girlies to be going "AAH ITS A TSUNAMI!" All the time LOL) Any good suggestions for them? I will of course buy a light and heater and i was wondering if i should get a bubble maker? And one last question: Is sand easy to clean and how do you clean it or is there something better to use for a substrate? And are there any improvements i can make to my plans? Thanks! Answers are appreciated and we will be purchasing the tank and supplies on sunday or monday. 8) You know the first time i came on and saw you saying they were addictive i thought "pssh" then i got a betta and im like " I NEED MORE!!!" 8)

congrats! bdays are quite handy alright!

sand is a pain tbh... defo rather go for gravel or marbels even... sand goes all over the place when your cleaning! i hate sand lol. an air pump is a good idea. it looks nice too! and fish like to play with the bubbles too.

As far as a filter goes get a power filter raited for 5-10 or 2-10 gallons rather one that says 10-15 or 10-20

Really I dont think it would hurt anything to get a filter raited for smaller tanks than you have, bettas dont need huge strong filteration.

10 gallon tanks need a heater of 50-100 watts.

Make sure you really want a sorority. After setting mine up and seeing how stressed my girls are, I wished I never put them in together. This isn't to put you off of a sorority, but to think about it more.

As one member who was helping me with my sorority said, a filter can help break up a fight between two or more girls. You just have to move it around every once and awhile. Please get a filter that is for at least for a 5 gallon tank.

I would get one real plant. Real plants are just so relaxing looking. Fake plants will never go into my aquariums once I finish putting all the real plants in them. My java fern hasn't needed really any upkeep. Some fake plants look really nice though.

A bubbler isn't needed, so you can go without. I love the look of a bubbler in the corner. It's mainly your personal preference.
